The song was first recorded by Adam Faith in 1961 and released on his self-tilted album. It was also released on the 1962 EP Adam Faith. The album also included versions of Watch Your Step, It’s All Over Now, If I Had A Hammer (If I Had A Dollar), and I’m Gonna Love You Too. I’ve Just Fallen For Someone has also been recorded by John Askew using the name Darren Young.

This early single from the Tamla label was written by Janie Bradford and Berry Gordy. It was first recorded in 1959 by Barrett Strong. The B-side was Oh I Apologize. The single was released in the UK on London American Recordings in 1960. The song has been covered by Freddie And The Dreamers, The Rolling Stones and The Kingsmen. Merseybeat group The Searchers covered the song in 1963. King Size Taylor & The Dominoes also covered the song in 1963. The Liverbirds, an all-girl group from Liverpool, covered the song in 1965. A version by Merseybeat group The Undertakers was released in 1996 on the album Undertakers Unearthed.

Two versions have been recorded live at The Star-Club in Hamburg. Jerry Lee Lewis recorded a version that was released on his 1964 album Live at The Star Club, Hamburg. A version by Johnny and The Hurricanes was released in 1980.

Money was part of The Beatles’ repertoire and was sung by John. The song lyrics inspired part of the lyrics to the Johnny Gentle song I’ve Just Fallen For Someone. The song was co-written by John Lennon and Johnny Gentle during their 1960 tour of Scotland. Johnny Gentle released the song as a single in 1962 under the name Darren Young. The Beatles first recorded Money for their Decca audition in 1962. They recorded a studio version in 1963 and it was released on their album With The Beatles. They performed the song six times for BBC radio and one version was released in 2013 on On Air – Live At The BBC Volume 2. A second version was also released in 2013 on The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963. An alternate version (RM 7 Undubbed) was also released on The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963. They performed the song live and a live version recorded for Swedish radio in 1963 was released in 1995 on Anthology 1. The single was on both John Lennon’s 1965 jukebox and George Harrison’s 1966 jukebox. The Beatles also played the song during the Let It Be sessions in 1969. John Lennon performed the song live in 1969. That version was released on the album Live Peace In Toronto.
