2213 Govinda – Radha Krishna Temple (1970)



Govinda is the musical adaption of the world’s oldest poem, consisting of Govindam prayers. It was recorded by the Radha Krishna Temple at Trident Studios in 1970.The recording features Billy Preston, Donovan and Mary Hopkin on backing vocals and Klaus Voormann on bass and Ringo Starr on drums. George Harrison overdubbed lead guitar onto the track. The recording was produced by George Harrison. It was released as a single on the Apple Records label in 1970. The B-side was Govinda Jai Jai. The single reached number twenty-three on the UK Singles chart. It was later released on The Radha Krsna Temple album in 1971.
