The Ballad Of Paul.

The Ballad Of Paul was written by Robert Brady and Eileen Evans. It was a novelty song about the rumours of Paul McCartney’s death. The lyrics mention The Beatles and their albums Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour, and Abbey Road as well as The Beatles’ 1967 song Strawberry Fields Forever. The song also references the ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’ from The Beatles’ song She Loves You. Musically the song also references The Beatles’ songs Strawberry Fields Forever and Helter Skelter. The Ballad Of Paul was recorded by The Mystery Tour in 1969 and was released as a single. The B-side was The Ballad Of Paul (Follow The Bouncing Ball). It is one of a number of novelty songs about the ‘Paul is dead’ rumours.
