This song was written by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin in 1924. It was first recorded by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra in 1924. Since then it has been recorded by The Benny Goodman Trio, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, and Ella Fitzgerald among others. Stephane Grappelly And His Quintet recorded an instrumental version of the song in 1956. It was released on their album Stephane Grappelly And His Quintet. George Harrison was a fan of Stephane Grappelly and Oh, Lady Be Good! was his favourite song recorded  by him.
