That’s The Way God Planned It.

This song was written by Billy Preston. It was recorded by him in 1969. It was recorded at Trident Studios in London and was produced by George Harrison. The recording features George Harrison on guitar and Ringo Starr on percussion. The recording also features Eric Clapton and Keith Richards on guitar, Klaus Voorman on bass, Ginger Baker on drums and Madeline Bell and Doris Troy on backing vocals. An edited version of the song was released as a single in 1969. It was released on the Apple Records label with What About You? on the B-side. It reached number eleven on the UK Singles chart. The full length version was later released on the 1969 album That’s The Way God Planned It. That version was titled That’s The Way God Planned It (Parts 1 & 2). An alternate version was released as a bonus track on the 1991 remastered version of the album That’s The Way God Planned It.

Billy Preston performed the song live at The Concert For Bangladesh in 1971. The band featured George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann, and Leon Russell among others. That version was released on the 1971 album The Concert For Bangladesh. The song was part of the repertoire of Ringo Starr And His All-Starr Band and was sung by Billy Preston.
