This song was written by John Fogerty and was first recorded by the band Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1968. It was produced by John Fogerty and was released as a single in 1969 with Born On The Bayou on the B-side. The single reached number eight on the UK Singles chart and number two on the Billboard chart. Proud Mary has also been recorded by Solomon Burke, Ike & Tina Turner, and Elvis Presley among others. Taj Mahal and The Graffiti Band performed the song live in California in 1987. The band included George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Jesse Ed Davis among others. John Fogerty sang lead vocals.
