Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was written by Paul McCartney but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was first recorded by The Beatles in 1967. It was released on The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The album was released on 1 June 1967. The Jimi Hendrix Experience performed the song live at the Saville Theatre in London on 4 June 1967. Paul McCartney and George Harrison attended the show. Also on the bill was Denny Laine & His Electric String Band. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr had previously attended a concert by The Jimi Hendrix Experience in February 1967. The complete setlist for 4 June 1967 was:
