Hey John,

Hey John was written by Jim Council and Blossom Dearie. The song is a tribute to John Lennon. It was first recorded by Blossom Dearie in 1968. It was released as a single in 1968 with 59th Street Bridge Song on the B-side. Blossom Dearie met John Lennon on the TV show Frost On Saturday in August 1968. The single was released in December 1968. The song was later included on Blossom Dearie’s 1970 album That’s Just The Way I Want To Be. The song has also been recorded by Carmen McRae among others.
