Eleanor Rigby was written by Paul McCartney but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was first recorded by The Beatles in 1966. Ray Charles recorded the song in 1968. It was released on his 1968 album A Portrait Of Ray. The song was released as a single with Understanding on the B-side. It reached number thirty-six on the UK Singles chart and number thirty-five on the Billboard chart.
