1790 Good Night – The Beatles (1968)

Good Night was written by John Lennon but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was recorded at EMI Studios in 1968 and was produced by George Martin. Ringo Starr is the only member of The Beatles to feature on the recording. The recording features George Martin on celesta and The Mike Sammes Singers on backing vocals. An edit of the rehearsal and take 34 was released on The Beatles’ 1996 album Anthology 3. A short snippet of the recording sessions was used in Paul McCartney’s 2000 song Plastic Beetle from his album Liverpool Sound Collage.Good Night was first released on The Beatles’ 1968 album The Beatles. John Lennon sings a brief a cappella version of the song during the John Lennon and Yoko Ono Avant-garde piece Amsterdam from their 1969 album Wedding Album.
