1777 Julia – The Beatles (1968)


Portuguese EP, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

This song was written by John Lennon but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. A demo recorded by The Beatles in 1968 at George Harrison’s home in Esher has never been released. Julia was recorded at EMI Studios in 1968 and was produced by George Martin. John Lennon is the only member of The Beatles to feature on the recording. Take 2 was released on The Beatles’ 1996 album Anthology 3. Julia was first released on The Beatles’ 1968 album The Beatles. The song was also released on the EP Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da in Portugal in 1969. The EP also included While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Back In The U.S.S.R. A new remix was released on The Beatles’ 2006 album Love. It was part of a medley with Eleanor Rigby. Sean Lennon performed the song live in 2001 for the TV special Come Together: A Night for John Lennon’s Words and Music.
