Back In The U.S.S.R was written by Paul McCartney but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. A demo recorded by The Beatles at George Harrison’s home in Esher has never been released. The Beatles recorded the song at EMI Studios in 1968. The recording was produced by George Martin and features George Martin on piano. The recording does not feature Ringo Starr. Back In The U.S.S.R was first released on the 1968 album The Beatles. The song was also released as a single in Sweden in 1969. The B-side was Don’t Pass Me By. A new remix was released on The Beatles’ 2006 album Love. The Beatles played the song during the Let It Be sessions in 1969. An extract from the rehearsals was included on the Fly On The Wall disc included with the 2003 album Let It Be…Naked. The song has also been recorded by Cliff Bennett And His Band, and Chubby Checker among others. The song is part of Paul McCartney’s repertoire and live versions have been released on Tripping The Live Fantastic (1990), Back In The U.S. (2002), Back In The World (2003),Good Evening New York City (2009) and Live In Los Angeles (2010)
