1712 Dear Deliah – Grapefruit (1968)

Grapefruit.

Dear Deliah was written by Alexander Young under the pseudonym George Alexander. It was recorded by Grapefruit in 1967. It was recorded at Advision Studios in London and was produced by Terry Melcher. Grapefruit were named by John Lennon after the Yoko Ono book of the same name.  They were the second act to be signed to The Beatles’ music publishing company Apple Publishing. They were signed by Terry Doran in December 1967. Dear Deliah was released as their debut single.  It was released on the RCA Victor label in 1968 with The Dead Boot on the B-side. It reached number twenty-one on the UK Singles chart.
