This song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It was first recorded by The Beatles in 1967. It was recorded at EMI Studios and was produced by George Martin. The recording features George Martin on harmonium and Mal Evans on piano. An edit of Takes 1, 2 and 6 with orchestral overdubs was released on Anthology 2 in 1996. A Day In The Life was first released on The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song was also released as the B-side to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in Italy in 1967. A new remix was released on The Beatles’ 2006 album Love.

The song has also been recorded by Peter Knight And His Orchestra, The Hollyridge Strings, and Jose Feliciano among others. The song is part of Paul McCartney’s repertoire. A live version, performed as a medley with Give Peace A Chance, was released in 2009 on the album Good Evening New York City.
