This song was written by John Lennon but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was first recorded by The Beatles in 1967. It was recorded by at EMI Studios and was produced by George Martin. An edit of Takes 6,7, and 8 was released on Anthology 2 in 1996. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds was first released on The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song is mentioned in The Beatles’ 1967 song I Am The Walrus. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is used in The Beatles’ 1968 movie Yellow Submarine. A new remix was released on The Beatles’ 2006 album Love. Elton John recorded the song in 1974. His version features John Lennon on backing vocals and guitar. Elton John and John Lennon performed the song live in 1974.That version was first released in 1981 on the EP 28th November 1974. Sean Lennon performed the song live with The Flaming Lips on Late Show with David Letterman in 2014. The song has also been recorded by William Shatner and The Percy Faith Strings among others.
