This song was based on (Baby) Hully Gully which was written by Cliff Goldsmith and Fred Smith. New lyrics were written by Hidle Brown Barnum and Marty Cooper in 1961. Peanut Butter was recorded by The Marathons in 1961. Merseybeat group The Eyes recorded the song in 1965. It was released as a single on the Star-Club label with She on the B-side. The Eyes were formed in Liverpool in 1964. The band included Gibson Kemp on drums and Klaus Voormann on bass. Gibson Kemp had previously played with Rory Storm And The Hurricanes as Ringo Starr’s replacement. Klaus Voormann did the artwork for the back cover. He later designed the cover of The Beatles’ 1966 album Revolver.
