This song was written by John Lennon but is credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was first recorded by The Beatles in 1965. The Silkie recorded the song the same year. It was recorded at IBC Studios and was produced by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Paul McCartney plays electric guitar on the track and George Harrison plays percussion and tambourine. The song was released as a single in 1965 on the Fontana label. The B-side was City Winds. The single reached number twenty-eight on the UK Singles chart and number ten on the Billboard chart. The Silkie were an English folk group who were signed by Brian Epstein and managed by Alistair Taylor. This was their second single.
