Carl Perkins wrote and recorded this song in 1956. The Beatles first recorded the song for BBC Radio in 1964 with John Lennon on lead vocals. It was released in 1994 on the album Live At The BBC. Another BBC version with Ringo Starr on lead vocals was released in 2013 on the album On Air – Live At The BBC Volume 2. They recorded the song again in 1964 at EMI Studios. That version has Ringo Starr on lead vocals. It was produced by George Martin and first released on the album Beatles For Sale. In Australia it was released as the B-side to Rock And Roll Music in 1965.

John Lennon played the song in 1970 during the Plastic Ono Band sessions. He also played the song during jam sessions in 1971 and 1972. A demo of John Lennon performing the song was released in 2010 on the John Lennon Signature Box. Ringo Starr and Carl Perkins performed the song in 1985 on the TV special Blue Suede Shoes : A Rockabilly Session. That version was released on the 1986 album of the same name.The song became part of Ringo’s repertoire and live versions have been released on the albums Ringo Starr And His All-Starr Band (1990), Tour 2003 (2004), and Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band Live 2006 (2008). Ringo Starr also performed the song during the Concert For George in 2002. That version was released on the 2003 album of the same name. George Harrison performed the song live in 1987 with Taj Mahal and The Graffiti Band. The song has also been performed live by Paul McCartney.
