This song was written by Larry Williams and was recorded by him in 1958. It was recorded by The Beatles in 1964. It was recorded at EMI Studios and was produced by George Martin. The recording features George Martin on piano. It was released on the EP Long Tall Sally in 1964. The EP also included Long Tall Sally, I Call Your Name, and Matchbox. The EP reached number one on the UK EP Chart. Slow Down was released as a single in America with Matchbox on the B-side. It reached number twenty-five on the Billboard chart. The Beatles also recorded the song for BBC Radio and a version was released in 1994 on the album Live At The BBC.
