It was recorded at Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Hamburg, Germany in June 1961 and was produced by Bert Kaempfert. The song was first released on the French EP Mister Twist in 1962. It was released in the UK on an EP in June 1963. The EP was credited to Tony Sheridan With The Beatles and was released on the Polydor label. The EP also included My Bonnie, Cry For A Shadow, and The Saints (When The Saints Go Marching In). The song was released as a single in America in 1964 with Cry For A Shadow on the B-side. In the UK it was the B-side to Cry For A Shadow. The song was also recorded by Gerry And The Pacemakers in 1961. Their version was titled Why Oh Why and was released in 2004 on the album Unearthed Merseybeat Vol. 2.
