Not to be confused with the song of the same name recorded by Ray Charles in 1959, this song was written by Gerry Marsden, Freddie Marsden, Les Chadwick, and Les Maguire who were all members of Gerry And The Pacemakers. The song was first recorded by Louise Cordet in 1964. It was later recorded by Gerry And The Pacemakers the same year. Their version was recorded at EMI Studios and was produced by George Martin. It was released as a single with Show Me That You Care on the B-side. In America the B-side was Away From You. The single went to number six on the UK Singles chart and number four on the Billboard chart in America. Gerry And The Pacemakers were a Merseybeat group managed by Brian Epstein. Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying was their fifth consecutive top ten single in the UK. The song has also been recorded by Trini Lopez among others.
