This song was written by Janie Bradford and Berry Gordy and was first recorded by Barrett Strong in 1959.The Beatles first recorded it in 1962 for their Decca audition. They recorded the song again in 1963 for their album With The Beatles. It was recorded at EMI Studios and was produced by George Martin. George Martin played piano on the track. An alternate version (RM 7 Undubbed) was released in 2013 on the album The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963. The Beatles also played the song during the Let It Be sessions in 1969. In Germany, the song was released as the B-side to It Won’t Be Long in 1964. The Beatles also recorded the song for BBC Radio. One version was released on the album On Air – Live At The BBC Volume 2 in 2013. A second version was on the album The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963 in 2013. The song was part of The Beatles’ repertoire. A live version recorded for Swedish radio in 1963 was released in 1995 on the album Anthology 1. John Lennon performed the song live in 1969. That version was released on the album Live Peace In Toronto. The song has also been recorded by The Everly Brothers, The Supremes, Little Richard, and Roy Orbison among others.
