Love Me Do.

This song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It was first recorded in 1962 by The Beatles and released as their début single. The B-side was P.S. I Love You. The single reached number seventeen on the UK Singles chart. The single version features Ringo Starr on drums. A different version with Andy White on drums and Ringo Starr on tambourine was released on the 1963 album Please Please Me. A third version with Pete Best on drums was released in 1995 on the album Anthology 1. A version recorded for BBC Radio (with Ringo on drums) was released in 1994 on the album Live At The BBC. Three more BBC versions were released in 2013 on the album The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963. The song was part of The Beatles repertoire. They played it as part of a medley on BBC radio in 1963 and as part of medley on the TV special Around The Beatles in 1964. They also played the song during the Let It Be sessions in 1969.

Paul McCartney used the song in his 1990 song P.S. Love Me Do. The song was released on the Japanese version of his 1990 album Flowers In The Dirt. A live version of released on the Birthday single. Love Me Do is also part of Paul McCartney’s repertoire. A live version recorded at Abbey Road Studios was released in 2018 on the Spotify only album  Paul McCartney Box Set. Ringo Starr covered Love Me Do in 1998 for his album Vertical Man. A live version was released on his 1998 album VH1 Storytellers. The song has also been covered by The Chipmunks, Dick Hyman, and Sandie Shaw among others.
