0867 Two Little Dickie Birds – Trad (1765)


Mother Goose’s Melody.

This English nursery rhyme dates to the 1760s. It was first published in Mother Goose’s Melody in 1765. The names of the birds in the rhyme were originally Jack and Gill and were later changed to Peter and Paul. Petula Clark recorded a pop version of the rhyme in 1951, titled Fly Away Peter, Fly Away Paul. John Lennon sings a parody version of the song during The Beatles 1967 movie Magical Mystery Tour.
