Think was written by Lowman Pauling and was first recorded by The “5” Royales in 1957. Their version reached number nine on the R&B chart in America. James Brown and The Famous Flames covered the song in 1960. It was released as a single with You’ve Got The Power on the B-side. The single was James Brown’s first top forty hit. It reached number thirty-three on the Billboard chart. It did better on the R&B chart, reaching number seven. The B-side also charted. The song was also released on the 1960 album of the same name.

James Brown has released two live versions of the song, one in 1963 and another in 1968. He re-recorded the song in 1967 and twice in 1973. Both of his 1973 versions were released as singles with his cover version of Something on the B-side. The song has also been covered by Mick Jagger. Merseybeat group The Undertakers covered the song in 1964. It was released under the name The ‘Takers as the B-side to If You Don’t Come Back.
