0351 Bourree – Chet Atkins (1957)

Chet Atkins.

Bourree in E minor was written by Johann Sebastian Bach between 1707 and 1717. Chet Atkins recorded the song in 1957 and it was released on his album Hi-Fi in Focus. George Harrison was a big fan of Chet Atkins. He and Paul would play the tune at parties to show off. Paul plays part of the song on Oobu Joobu (Part 2) which was released on the Young Boy single in 1997. He also played part of the song during the TV special Chaos and Creation At Abbey Road in 2005. It later inspired two of Paul McCartney’s songs, Blackbird and Jenny Wren.
