Carl Perkins wrote this number and it became the B-side of his single Blue Suede Shoes in 1956. The song was part of Rory Storm and The Hurricanes’ repertoire and a live version recorded in 1960 can be heard on the 2012 album Live At The Jive Hive. It was also part of The Beatles’ repertoire and a version sung by John Lennon can be heard on Live At The BBC. Another version recorded for the BBC with Ringo Starr on lead vocals can he found on On Air-Live At The BBC Volume 2. They recorded a studio version in 1964 for the album Beatles For Sale. John Lennon performed the song during the Plastic Ono Band sessions in 1970. He also covered the song during a jam session in 1971 and again in 1972. A demo of John singing the song can be found on the John Lennon Signature Box. Ringo Starr performed the song with Carl Perkins in 1985 on the TV special Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session. That version includes Ringo on lead vocals but does not include George Harrison.
George Harrison performed the song live with Taj Mahal and The Graffiti Band in 1987 at the Palomino Club in California. The band also included Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Taj Mahal, and Jesse Ed Davis. George sang lead vocals. The song became part of Ringo’s repertoire and he has performed it with his All-Starr Band. Versions have been released on live albums from 1990 (1989 tour), 2004 (2003 tour) and 2008 (2006 tour). Ringo also performed the song during the Concert For George in 2002. That version was released in 2003 on the album of the same name. The song has also been performed live by Paul McCartney.
