Willie Dixon wrote this blues song for Little Walter who recorded it in 1955. It was released as a single and reached number one on the R&B Singles Chart. The song was based on the traditional gospel song This Train Is Bound For Glory. The song has been covered by The Coasters, The Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry and Ricky Nelson among others. Tony Sheridan recorded the song twice. First in 1965 with The Big Six and again in 1968 with The Beat Brothers. Both versions were released as singles. Gerry And The Pacemakers recorded the song in 1965 for their album I’ll Be There. The song inspired The Beatles’ 1964 song She’s A Woman. John Lennon played the song during a jam in 1972.
