Al Jolson

Al Jolson

Louis Silvers and Buddy De Sylva wrote April Showers in 1921. Al Jolson was the first to perform the song in the Broadway musical Bombo. It went on to become one of his trademark songs. It was released as a single the same year with Weep No More My Mammy on the B-side. The song has also been recorded by Cab Calloway, Bing Crosby, Paul Whiteman, and Frank Sinatra among others. It was sung in the 1973 TV special James Paul McCartney.
