The Hill sisters.

More simply known as Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday To You, was written by sisters Patty and Mildred J. Hill in 1912. The melody of the song comes from the song Good Morning To All which is credited to the Hill sisters and was written in 1893.

The Beatles recorded an uptempo version of the song on Saturday Club in 1963. The song later appeared on the album On Air -Live At The BBC in 2013. The Beatles used the same arrangement in 1968 when they played the song for Mike Love of The Beach Boys while in India. (Mike Love’s birthday is March 15). John Lennon and Paul McCartney would go on to write their own birthday song, Birthday, released on the White Album in 1968. Happy Birthday To You was also played during a jam session for John Lennon’s birthday in 1971. The jam included John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Phil Spector among others.
